PSL launches multi-processor version of SECANT

Version 6 of the SECANT Cutting Optimization package has just been released. This latest version can take advantage of multi-processor systems to run several variants of a cutting job concurrently. This allows users the opportunity to improve on SECANT’s already excellent results with no loss in processing time.

Further recent enhancements to the system include:

• A friendlier interface to report design so users can easily customize reports and cutting diagrams to their exact requirements
• The addition of a family optimization facility offering the ability to perform a variety of “what-if” optimizations. For example to investigate how a slight loss in yield may result in significantly reduced processing time at the saw
• An update to the existing parts explosion facility to include a user friendly interface whilst retaining the powerful functionality of the underlying algorithm.
