See what our customers have said about us:

We have been using SECANT for over twenty years in several different areas of our business. PSL have worked closely with us over the years to integrate SECANT with our other software packages, allowing us to access up-to-date order, quotation and stock details, whilst providing optimized low wastage cutting plans for both sales and production. SECANT is an integral part of our system.

The installation of SECANT from PSL has allowed us to substantially reduce the amount of offcuts we store; reducing warehouse costs and freeing up capital

PSL Optimization Software were commissioned by David Wilson’s Trailers (www.dwtexhibitions.co.uk) to develop a fully integrated system to support both the order management and transport planning functions of their business. Pip Wilson, Director, commented “We are delighted with the level of comprehension that PSL have demonstrated right from our initial discussion through to the defining of our requirements.

DWT operate possibly the largest fleet of exhibition trailers in the UK and we needed to have an integrated hire and transportation system which would enable us to plan our resources taking into account strengthening legislation, client requirements and servicing schedules whilst ensuring no resource was double booked.

We have now been working together for over a year and as expected we are seeing savings as a direct result of the new software within our sales and Logistics departments. The PSL software is transforming the way DWT run our exhibition hire fleet operation.”

Moores Furniture Group, (www.moores.co.uk) a leading UK kitchen manufacturer has recently implemented eight copies of the SECANT cutting optimization system. Phillip Knowles, Production Control Manager at Moores, commented, “Before SECANT our targets for yield and speed of cutting were only achievable after a large amount of manual adjustment to the cutting patterns, often creating signification variation in what was actually produced compared to the original requirement. SECANT has really delivered on its promises, both before and after purchase”

The Ramsey Timber Group (www.ramsey-uk.com) are suppliers of moulded timber components to the bedding industry. A specially tailored version of SECANT interfacing with new order and stock management systems was commissioned in January and went live in August of the same year. SECANT was able to rise to the challenge of sustaining high material yields while meeting the critical work flow targets of the client. Mike Ramsey, Managing Director, commented “PSL worked closely with us to tailor their product to our special situation. The result is a system that addresses our needs, improves yields and gives us consistent and reliable control over our costs.”

When California Doors (www.caldoor.com) needed to integrate the production from a number of different manufacturers’ saws, SECANT was the solution chosen for cut planning. SECANT transmits cutting instructions to four different saws at the three manufacturing plants. Mike Tuz, General Manager in Gilroy (CA), commented “We find SECANT both flexible and effective. It fitted in with our way of working in a way that the alternatives we were offered failed to do”

Custom Made Kitchens (CMK) of Thorne, near Doncaster, are a leading UK supplier of kitchen and bedroom cabinets in both standard and bespoke designs and sizes. A hybrid system that combined CMK's existing order taking software with modules from the SECANT cut planning package was developed to help in eliminating errors in production and rationalize the whole production planning process.

According to Keith Hackshall, the key to the success of the project was its evolutionary pace. “At each stage we knew the changes provided immediate benefits to us and could be managed without compromising production. In embarking on the project we were looking for savings in man-time and this has been delivered throughout the business. The improvements in cutting efficiency are a welcome bonus.”

Rodney King, who managed the project for PSL, pointed out “The big advantage was being able to break into the problem gently, without creating a mountain of extra work for management. We simply proved the concept with CMK, and then worked our way through the details in stages.”
